Inspired by the story of Akvan Div—the demon who lifted the very earth beneath Rostam—this belt features a rugged, organic texture created by hand-embossing full-grain leather with natural stone. As the stone is pressed into the hide, it leaves unique hollows, ridges, and contours that echo broken earth. Each piece is then finished with hand patination, giving the textured surface a rich, shifting depth of color. The Story
The Akvan Belt takes its name from Akvan Div of the Shahnameh, who tears the ground from beneath the sleeping Rostam and lifts both earth and hero into the air. This striking image of earth displaced by extraordinary strength inspires the belt’s rugged, stone-embossed surface. Each belt is crafted from full-grain leather and embossed by hand using natural stone. Pressed into the hide, the stone leaves irregular hollows, ridges, and contours that echo the broken earth of Akvan’s tale. The connection is carried through the making itself: stone gives the leather its texture, turning an image from Persian epic into something you can feel beneath your fingertips. Every impression lends the belt its own character. With wear, the leather develops a rich patina, adding depth to the surface and a personal history to its ancient inspiration.
